On 28 and 29 August 2024, FONAP’s retreat and strategy day took place at the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) in Bonn. In addition to the board, more than 20 member organisations took part, including representatives from the private sector, NGOs and associations. The aim was to plan and shape the association’s future processes and thematic priorities together.
Intensive exchange on the focus topics EUDR and member project
A central highlight of the first day was the presentation by Dr. Felix von Gliscynski from the BMEL on the EU regulation for deforestation-free supply chains (EUDR). Dr. von Gliscynski gave detailed insights into the current state of implementation and the requirements of the regulation and answered members’ questions. Joy Heitlinger from GIZ also reported on the current status of the FONAP member project. In interactive sessions, suggestions for improving cooperation and exchanging best practices were discussed. We also welcomed Maria Buß as a new board member from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Setting the course for the coming year
The second day was dedicated to strategic planning for 2025. The board and the secretariat used this day to integrate the members’ suggestions and to set the strategic priorities for the coming year. The exchange and networking strengthened cooperation within the FONAP network and helped to set the course for the next steps.
